In a 24 hour period I had two people tell me I HAD to read this book called Body Love by Kelly Leveque. I’m not one to hope on a celebrity nutritionist train but I took it as a sign (with two people telling me about the book) and ordered it.
I’M SO GLAD I DID.
I’ve been behind the scenes struggling for a couple months health wise. I was exhausted all the time. My hair was falling out in massive clumps (even worse than postpartum). I was struggling to loose those last 10 lbs I’ve been holding on too after having Max. I was eating healthy but so busy I literally would grab an apple for breakfast, go workout with clients for two hours and then ravage food two hours later for lunch. Even after eating a big lunch would be starving by 5 pm. Since I was pretty much h-angry all day you can guess what my moods were like as well. Someone suggested maybe I had a thyroid issue (since it runs on both sides) so I got an at home test and currently waiting on those results. To say I was struggling would be oh so true! I was barely making it through the day even though I THOUGHT I was doing the things the ‘healthy’ way I know my body and I know something is just not right.
Hold on because I’m about to get real nerdy on you. I read this entire book in two days and decided right then THIS was the lifestyle change I needed.
Kelly Leveque, author of Body Love busts so many myths that different (popular) diets and other companies teach you and not only that she has MAJOR science to back it up. I’m guilty of believing to loose weight I needed to feed myself every couple hours in order to boost my metabolism and in turn loose weight. In Body Love you learn that all you really need to do is control your blood sugar and get it off the roller coaster that most diets put it on. That by adding these FOUR things into each meal (fiber, fat, protein, and greens) you are actually correctly fueling your body (and blood sugar) to sustain you until your next meal up to six hours later.
Dino and I are on day five of eating this way and both are blow away by our results. We both feel more stable, increased energy, never starving, both of us have lost four pounds. Each morning we are starting our day with what they call a FABFOUR Smoothie that honestly is blowing my mind! For years I was an avid Shakeology drinker and though I do think its a great product it always left me hungry only hours later and the price was a little hefty. I won’t lie, this is not the most amazing shake I have ever had in my life, it taste okay, but it totally gets the job done and thats what this struggling momma needs right now.
Tapper’s Morning Smoothie:
1 scoop Collagen Peptides (we use this one)
2 Tablespoons of Chia Seeds
1 handful of Spinach
2 Cups of unsweetened almond milk (or any other unsweetened nut milk)
Add all ingredients and BLEND AWAY MOMMAS!
We’ve been trying her other recipes for lunch and dinner and y’all THEY ARE SO GOOD! More coming on those in the coming weeks! I truly hope everyone grabs a copy of this book!
