Its Monday, I love Mondays and I LOVE this Momma. <3

Danielle and I met what feels like a million years ago at a park in Washington D.C. while our sweet boys played. We literally became instant friends having boys the same age and having several things in common -FITNESS & NUTRITION. We both had a passion with how other women take care of themselves. She’s also been my nutrition advisor for my new course starting in April and designed all our menus and meal plans so naturally she a huge MOM CRUSH for me today!


Tell us about yourself.
I’m a registered dietitian, a marathon runner, an avid kitchen experimenter, a wife and a mom of two. I left my amazing full-time career as a dietitian at the National Institutes of Health to mostly stay home with my two littles. It’s been a difficult transition for me, going from working full time, being able to use my advanced degree and help people in a very meaningful way (I worked mostly children with cancer needing feeding tubes and or IV nutrition) to being “home” aka on the go ALL THE TIME with crazy schedules and carpool and activities and playdates, etc. I live in SoCal now, and I just love it here!
As a dietitian what are the issues you find that mothers struggle with the most?
I think that moms need help with a few things. First, they need to be able to know what are the basics for providing a healthy, well-balanced meal. Like, what does it mean, and how can you do it easily, without a struggle for you or your kids? Also, I think moms need to know it’s okay to not have perfect meals 100% of the time. Life isn’t about perfection. It’s about balance and happiness, too.

Whats your favorite healthy dish that is quick and easy?

A Trader Joes microwave quinoa bag with steamed veggies and sometimes a protein like chicken or tofu or hey, sometimes it’s chicken nuggets or fish sticks. It’s easy, it’s a protein-packed high fiber food, and the veggies round it out. Very often if the kids are hangry and nothing is ready yet, I pop a bag of quinoa in the microwave (it’s ready in under 3 minutes), I steam up come broccoli, carrots and cauliflower and add drained and rinsed canned beans. That’s just the base. You can make it into anything really. Add avocado and salsa, or add pasta sauce and some cheese… I make the quinoa for breakfast quite often if I’m in a pinch, too. I just use it like an oatmeal and serve it with berries, cinnamon and a dollop of yogurt or something. It’s versatile, easy to make and I don’t feel bad about making it all the time.

What are your biggest parenting struggles?

Making decisions and finding time for myself.
What is your favorite way to show yourself ‘Self Love’
Exercise. I really like to spend a least an hour each day sweating. I use the time to focus on my thoughts, to push myself and relieve stress.

What is your favorite BONUS way to be Selfish? (mani/pedi/facial/workout)

Getting a housekeeper. I always feel guilty getting a housekeeper. I feel like I should be able to keep my house clean since I “stay home all day” but the reality is, I love the help from time to time, and she does a much better job than I do. When she comes every 3-4 weeks or so, I feel more calm and relaxed, if even for a day or two.

Food Friday: Yummy, Easy, Mini Salmon Burgers

I love when I get grand recipe ideas that come to life in my head and then we I actually do them they turn out AMAZING! These mini salmon burgers do not disappoint!

For some reason I’ve been craving salmon burgers. I remember my mom making them as a kid and I believe she used oats. I ran to Whole Foods to see if they had any pre-made but all the options included cheese and I’m attempting this no dairy thing lol.

I’m in the begging phases of running my own test group on myself. As an accountability coach I want to make sure I’m holding my own self accountable to taking care of myself. This includes NUTRITION. So not only are these good but they are pretty darn healthy too.

The entire thing took me about 15 minutes to create and make, which for this Selfish Momma was perfection. Max my 7 month old ate two. Recipe below, enjoy and your welcome. 🙂


1 Can of Salmon (I used a big can if you can only find the little ones use two)

2 Eggs

1/2 Diced Red Onion

1/4 Cup of Bread Crumbs (this can be made paleo by subbing this out completely or using a substitute).

Salt and Pepper to taste

Siracha because I’m a kick with it these days and put it on everythannng! (optional)


  1. Put everything in a big bowl and mix it all up. I like to mix it all up and then mash it all to the bottom of the bowl to make sure its sticking like I want.
  2. Use a 1/4 cup measuring spoon to scoop out patties and set aside on wax paper or a plate.
  3. Spray pan with Coconut or olive oil and set to high heat until the pan is warm, turn down heat to medium/high before placing the mini burgers on.
  4. Cook 3-4 minutes each side. The outside should be a little crispy
  5. Put toppings on or put on little buns whatever you want! We love it by itself with a spicy kick to it. Should make about 10 mini salmon burgers.

Destin, Florida – Vacation Recap: How I survived.

I love going to new places. My dream for my kids is that we get out every couple months (once a month in my far off dreams) and travel to somewhere new. We make these amazing beautiful memories and can’t stop talking about them till we book another trip thats just amazing as the last.

Like I said this is my dream. Once in a while we act on it and book the trip and yes tons of memories are made and we have fun, but I’d be lying to you if I said it was easy. Its hard so hard some days.

This was our first trip with all three to the beach. My other kids have been to the beach but this was the first time I had taken a baby to the beach. I turned to my trusted following on FB to get the scoop on what to take and though it was super helpful and loaded with Pinterest hacks, I needed it to be more simple. Unfortunately it really wasn’t warm enough to even get in the beach but this was a great opportunity for me to really catch my bearings for future trips! Here’s my list of things to bring!

Things that are essential for parents on the beach:

  1. Alcohol….yup thats right I said it. Obviously I’m not telling you to get sloshed. No thats not responsible. What I am telling you is to make a mimosa and drink it at the beach and try and remember the good ol’ days when you had perky breast and were proud of your tramp stamp and your name was simply your name not the word Mom said fifty times in a row.
  2. Baby Powder…Baby powder is totally looked down upon in todays society. That little bottle our parents threw all over our butts is apparently loaded with toxins that if we inhale causes cancer. I learned from my amazing fb family that baby powder has a secret power. It gets sand off the body! I hate sand. Once its there it pretty much never leaves but baby powder is a great way to get it OFF the body before heading inside. NOTE: In the middle of a temper-tantrum I dragged (literally 🙂 ) Jay from the beach covered in sand (still wet) threw baby powder all over him and started rubbing, not only did it not come off but he screamed at me. Moral of the story…wait till sand is dry.
  3. Sunscreen…unlike the baby powder scenario I do care about my kids skin and the stuff that gets put on it. BeautyCounter is always my go to! Can’t argue products that don’t have any chemicals in them.
  4. Sun Tent…I had heard lot about sun tents…they were a must have. I did lots of research on different one and I found one I loved. Took about 10 minutes to set up. Probably could have taken less time if Max wasn’t loosing his mind…it stayed at the beach about five minutes before we moved it to the pool area where he finally fell asleep for about an hour which was straight magical.
  5. A book you love… I actually kinda laugh as I write this…I brought my book, my laptop, my journal, my planner and none of them even got touched. BUT in the case that you can and the stars all align that book paired with that mimosa will be  a magical moment.

Vacations are hard. Fun but with kids they are hard. Remind yourself over and over the memories that are being made. On the car ride home I stressed to my husband that I was so worried about everyone being behaved that I missed the mark. He made a point, they won’t remember those moments, but they will remember that time we went to Florida. Lord I hope so.

What is a Selfish Mom?

I’ve had a lot of people ask me recently about this whole “Selfish Mom” thing.

How could it possibly be okay to be ‘Selfish’ and why am I bragging about it? Answering all your questions today!

What is a selfish mom? 

A selfish mom is someone who cares deeply for her family but she understands the importance of taking care of herself. She takes moments throughout the day to lift herself up, give herself some praise, and take care of herself in all capacities (mind, body, soul).

What are Selfish Mom Self Love Languages? 

I’ve had PPD terrible after each of my kids. What I realized was how common it is with thousands of moms. I also realized that for me personally I was feeling resentful to those around me and my family because I wasn’t taking care of myself in the capacity I needed to. I feel there are FOUR universal self love languages as moms we need to have met in order to take care of those around us and present our best selves: EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL. These are about doing the nitty gritty work to feel our best.

What are Bonus Selfish Mom Moments? 

Well these are the fun stuff 🙂 these are the girls nights, facials, massage, mani/pedi. These are the things we LOVE to do. Often they can’t be done everyday, but man when they do happen its like pure joy <3

I’m excited to take my business and this movement to the next level! My goal has always been to help all the Mom’s out there feel their best and fill their cup.
