Maximus: Month Four Update

Exactly one year ago this week I started this blog.

A couple days after I found out I was pregnant with Maximus.

When I started this blog I had huge passion for building my business into something really huge. Days after finding out I was pregnant I literally cried myself to sleep. We were finally going to have all our kids in school and it was going to be MY time to shine professionally. To start all over with a baby was not in OUR plan. It was however in God’s plan and we all know thats the better plan. It took awhile, I won’t lie, but I finally came around to the idea of another baby, eventually became excited, and now here he is. My sweet little boy is officially four months.

The last month was a big one. We discovered the Merlin Magic Sleep Suite and although I’m not sure how magic is it, Max has been taking solid morning naps allowing Mommy to actually get some work done. Night time sleep is getting better but he’s still waking up in the middle of the night at least once.

He loves:

His family, eating his hands, watching Mommy workout, mirrors, bath time, the song A Thousand Years (lol), tummy time, and when Mommy says the word ‘WHAT!’

He Hates:

Target, the car (that will be fun on our 10 hour road trip next week!), red lights, having to wait for anything longer than 30 seconds and baby food (we just started giving him some taste so I’m thinking this will change soon.

He is such a blessing in our life. Sophia and Jay are so excited for his first Christmas. I’m pretty sure they are going to be disappointed when they realize he’s too young to get it.

2017 Might not have been the year I imagined and for that I am so thankful because I wouldn’t want to live a day with out this sweet boy. Thank you God for giving us the last four months with this sweet boy.

Family Pictures – Natalie Imhoff Photography

Last Saturday we did our first ever family pictures as a party of five. I failed on getting my act together to do a maternity shoot or newborn pics (#momfail) so I was determined this year to do something I never have before and get a christmas card out to the world to show them our three blessings.

I knew not to expect a lot from my family, lol. Being 100% honest here, Dino and Jay hate taking pictures and usually it takes a lot of convincing. I gave everyone the speech about sucking it up and acting like they love each other for an hour. Just smile so mommy can have her pictures.

The last two times we have had family pictures done the weather has been freezing. Nervous about it being December but still pretty mild I planned our outfits accourdingling and hoped for the best. It ended up being in the high 70’s that morning and of course everyone complained they were hot. I swear I can not and will not ever win this battle with the weather.

One thing I love about living so close to downtown Dallas is all the different murals. Did lots of research and settled on this amazing location “The Abstract Sunset Wall” (2606 Swiss Ave, Dallas, TX 75204). The different colors were amazing, the mural is HUGE, and we actually got a great picture on the side of the building as well so don’t discount that!

The photo shoot did not go super smooth (thanks Jay & Max), but what did was working with Natalie Imhoff Photography. I could not be more in love with this girl. We’ve known each other forever, long time family friends. She’s a mom of two boys and she just ‘gets’ it. She worked with Jay and his inability to put down his legos. She somehow managed to get a picture of Max not screaming his head off and even the pictures he where he was screaming, she still made those look good. Her and Sophia are apparently best friends now, and she was calm cool and collected the entire time, when at times Dino and I were not.

Here are some of the pictures she did! Our Christmas card is going to look amazing!

Natalie, thank you again for always dealing with our chaos and finding a way to make our ‘mess’ look amazing.

If your DFW local please check her out HERE!

Sick Soup Friday Recipe

Tis the season for colds, congestion and flu. As a mom of three I have NO time to be sick. Even if I do get sick the opportunity to curl up in bed under the covers watching Netflix isn’t an option most times.

I don’t really remember how this soup became about except for that my kids began calling it ‘Sick Soup’ a couple years ago when I made it each time one of us was sick. Really its just our own version of chicken noodle soup. The great thing about chicken noodle soup is that its proven to reduce congestion and inflammation in the body, and on top of it this recipe is just amazing.

24068601_10104101894662167_5970855574515933559_o

Ingredients:

Chicken Broth (Sophia loves lots of broth so we usually use two boxes)

Rotisserie Chicken Fully cooked

Chopped Celery, White Onion, and Shredded or Chopped Carrots (Quick TIP: I always go to the produce section and buy these pre-cut)

Reames Frozen Egg Noodles (THESE ARE THE KEY NOODLES!!! I can not eat this soup with out these Noodles!)

Sriracha for seasoning (secret ingredients)

Directions:

  1. Put about 2 tablespoons of broth in a large pan and add in all veggies, cook for a couple minutes and let simmer until a little soft.
  2. While vegetables are simmering pull apart chicken into small pieces
  3. Add remaining broth and pulled apart chicken into broth with veggies
  4. Bring to a boil and add noodles and cook according to the package.
  5. Serve immediately (salt and pepper to taste) and add a bit of siracha to give it a kick and give that congestion a bigger kick!
